The Verulam Child and Family Welfare Society is a community – based organisation which was established in 1933 to provide holistic welfare services to the poor and disadvantaged communities of Verulam and surrounding areas which incorporate urban, peri-urban, rural and informal settlements. Services are rendered free of charge. The rights and needs of children form the basis of our services to the community.

Our Society is affiliated to Child Welfare South Africa, previously known as the South African National Council for Child & Family Welfare.

The Society employs a staff of 11 professionally qualified social workers (including a social work manager), four administrative personnel and two general assistants.

The Society is registered as a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO No. 010-839).

• Provide and protect the well being and safety of children within families and communities.
• Enhance the capacities of individuals and families experiencing problems through therapeutic intervention and the provision of appropriate resource services.
• Uplift and strengthen the poor and disadvantage communities through developmental programmes.
• Promote and safeguard the interests of the staff through the provision of opportunities for job satisfaction and enrichment.
